  1. Display all player points adjustments in a location accessible to players and scorekeepers

Ideally all TDs will be trustworthy and transparent, but mistakes can be made when things get busy. Manual points adjustments should be visible to other users in some way for verification.

  2. Inverse the Line Chart showing Position

Right now the line chart for rank has it so that the closer to the bottom you are, the better, since being ranked #1 puts you close to the X-Axis.

Multiplying Rank *-1 would inverse the graph, meaning that if you're higher on the graph, you're doing better.

  4. Message field for Organizers to deliver information to players

This would be a Message that would possibly live on the standings page and be totally obvious when loading whatever page its on (I am thinking of this for selfie leagues specifically) That would relay info to players (Finals start a 2PM on Sunday) (Players XYZ who have byes can show up at 4PM)

    2nd - one strike
    3rd - 2 strikes
    4th - 3 strikes

  7. Add Challenge Matches (quick head-to-head match-ups)

Easily challenge another player to a best-of-X challenge. Match Play would let you send a challenge to a another player. That person would accept the challenge and Match Play would walk you through the challenge game by game.

Results would be stored for each individual game and you'd be able to get an overview of results over time along with any other stats that can be thought up.

  8. Let TD edit playoffs configuration ahead of time

In tournaments where "Create playoffs" is used, it would be helpful to be able to set up the proper "tournament details" before the tournament starts.

Currently, it's easy to click "Create playoffs", Create finals bracket, and start playoffs without viewing or confirming that the details are correct.

  9. Let TDs add/remove players from groups at will and create new groups at will

Would be neat if TDs could:

    • Add remove players from groups at will (e.g. to add a late player or remove a player that left during a round)
    • Create new groups from scratch (e.g. if many players show up late)

I have completed the first and most important portion. It’s now possible to modify players in groups.

Click the “cog” icon for a group and pick “Modify players”. Here are you swap out players in the group with other players.

I’ve placed the second porion about creating/removing entire groups in a new idea posted here: https://matchplay.uservoice.com/forums/595996-general/suggestions/20503975-let-tds-create-and-remove-groups-at-will

  10. Allow API to return player information for rounds in progress

For rounds in progress, the API currently does not return any information about the players or player order assigned to an arena.

    For example:
    https://matchplay.events/api-beta/tournaments/8988/results

    returns
    "gameid":212849,"arenaid":15260,"bank_id":null,"status":"started","results":[]}
There is no player info for the arenas in progress, even though the players are shown on the normal Match Play page:
    https://matchplay.events/app/tournaments/8988

The players appear when the results of the round are entered. However, it'd be nice to get the players on an arena while it's in progress.

My use case is to use the API to easily display the current players on a Twitch stream.

  11. Allow the API to access info for test tournaments

Currently, if you mark a tournament as a "test tournament", the API is unable to retrieve info about that tournament, e.g.:

    https://matchplay.events/api-beta/tournaments/76wb

returns a 404 instead of the info. Unchecking the "test tournament" option allows the data to be retrieved. Test tournaments would be very helpful for playing around with the Match Play API.

  12. Allow TDs to add people to round 1 that arrive late

Currently if someone arrives late but before things are fully "running" we add them to the event as a player. . . We have to tell them where to go play but cannot add them to the round without deleting the entire round.

As a result, we're forced to tell them where to go play, manually adjust a scores for up to 4 people depending on the format we're using (and how it affects other people scores), and then they still don't appear in the standings until the end of the second round (because the app thinks they haven't played…

The “Modify players” dialog box now lets you add or remove players from any game with some caveats:

    • You cannot add/remove players if the game is already completed. You must delete results first in that case. You can still replace players in a completed game
    • In a head-to-head tournament, you must always have two players (so you cannot add/remove players there)
    • In a group tournament, you must always have three or four players

Despite these limitations this is still useful in group tournaments where you can now add late players to existing groups or remove late players from existing groups (provided it’s not a three-player group).

You still cannot do much with the bye game. I will tackle that as part of: https://matchplay.uservoice.com/forums/595996-general/suggestions/32263480-allow-an-option-to-adjust-byes

  13. "Create Playoffs" for 4 players

I have a request regarding the "create playoffs" feature...

Here is the event where it was needed
    https://matchplay.events/app/tournaments/8717

We're running this format as a weekly where the top 4 make finals to play a three game round, but the current options only allow for 8, 16 or 32 player brackets. Would it be possible to give the option for 4 players?

  14. Make IFPA results numerically line up with IFPA requirements

Make IFPA submission results numerically line up with the required IFPA format.

Currently matchplay would rank three people tied for 5th as 5th place but should be 6th for sumbissions

  15. Change notifications so arena is first

As a player, when I receive a notification for a new game via Slack, the truncated message that appears on my phone's lock screen includes the first few players, but I have to open the Slack application to get the full message with the arena listed last. If the arena were first, I would know which machine to head to without extra clicks (knowing all the players is secondary).

  17. Create a Match Play Handbook

The handbook would contain documentation for all tournament formats and the individual tournament options.

Would also contain general documentation on how to use Match Play and some information on how to run tournament in general.

Go to https://matchplay.events/handbook or expand the “person” icon in the top right and click “Handbook” (or click the “Documentation” link in the footer) and you’ll get to the new Match Play Handbook.

The handbook has a ton of documentation that was hidden or non-existent. I aim to keep the handbook updated with answers to common questions in the future so I can write more code and fewer emails.

If you don’t find an answer in the handbook please keep emailing me! That’s the only way for me to know what I should be adding to the handbook!

  18. Display more tournament data to assist with IFPA submissions

    • Number of games played for each player (with participation percentage)
    • PGM calculations for Pingolf tournaments
    • Add more in comments!

I’ve added PGM and TGP numbers for Pingolf tournaments.

    • For regular pingolf tournaments you’ll find a “PGM” tab on the “Scorecards” page on Match Play Live. Use the dropdown to only calculate PGM for the number of players you’re advancing to finals. Example: https://matchplay.events/live/eb2n2/pgm
    • For pingolf elimination brackets you’ll find PGM & TGP values for each round on the “Matches” page on Match Play Live. Look on the right hand side at the bottom of each round: Example: https://matchplay.events/live/ebe50/matches
  19. New tournament format: Ladder tournaments

The tournament format used in the PAPA Circuit final:

"At the start of the third round, the remaining 10 players will be placed in a ladder-style bracket based on their original seeds. The bottom 4 players will compete in a single game, with the lowest scoring player being removed from the contest and replaced by the next highest seed. When only 2 players remain, they will compete in a best two-games-out-of-three series to determine the Circuit Champion and decide who takes home the PAPA Circuit Belt!"

  20. Make it possible to merge players

If you have created duplicate players by accident it would be nice to be able to merge them together to avoid adding the wrong player to new tournaments.

You can now merge players. The one caveat is that the two players can’t have played in the same tournament (because you risk getting into a situation where a player is playing against the same player).

Don’t stress the details, MP will give you an audit of that’s going to happen before the merge goes through. To start merging players go to the global “Players” page and choose the “Merge players” sub tab
